2018 Buick Regal Sportback Review

2018 Buick Regal Sportback Review

Let me just first say that this is not your grandpa’s Buick.

What’s different about the 2018 Regal Sportback? A new, more appealing grille, for starters. The Buick wing design feels much more modern and, yes, cool.

Also new for 2018, Buick replaced the traditional trunk found on most cars in this class with a hatchback. This design is common for high end luxury vehicles such as BMW and Audi.

On its all-wheel-drive models, the 2018 Sportback shares another feature with high end luxury vehicles – 5 link rear suspension. This ensures superior ride quality and comfort, as well as reduced road noise.

The 2018 Regal Sportback outshines last year’s Regal in that it offers over twice the storage capacity, at  31.5 cubic feet. When you fold down the rear seats, this capacity jumps to 60.7 cubic feet. That’s more than some mid-size SUV’s!

From the outside, however, the 2018 Sportback appears about as sedan-like as any other sedan on the market today. Its wheelbase measures 3 inches longer than its 2017 counterpart. The long, low profile gives it a sportier feel, although nobody could accuse the Sportback of appearing overly aggressive.

The Acura TLX provides the closest competition for the Sportback, but a closer look reveals some stark differences between the two.

For one, the TLX has a mere 14.3 cubic feet of storage capacity, less than 4 times that of the 2018 Sportback. Also, the base model TLX has 206 horsepower compared to the Sportback’s 250 horses. When you consider the Sportback has almost 2 inches more rear legroom than the TLX, the superiority of the Sportback becomes clear.

The 2018 Sportback’s 2.0 L Turbo engine, paired with a standard 9-speed automatic transmission on front-wheel-drive models provides 260 lbs per foot of torque. All-wheel-drive models have an 8-speed automatic transmission and provide 295 lbs per foot of torque.

Where You Buy Your 2018 Sportback Makes a Difference

Yes, the 2018 Buick Regal Sportback with the Essence trim level and the Driver Confidence II, Sights and Sounds, and Buick Interior Protection Packages that I have in stock is the exact same vehicle sitting on a lot somewhere in Nashville. And you know what?

A closer look reveals the MSRP on the two vehicles is the same – Exactly the same.

Why, then, would you go out of your way to come see me? Because I stand by my product 110%. How?

I offer a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty that covers items most powertrain warranties won’t even consider. For example, if you buy your 2018 Regal Sportback somewhere else and 4 years from now the water pump needs replaced, guess who’s paying for that?

Not so with my warranty. We cover items such as your water pump, fuel pump, seals and gaskets, timing belt and chain, engine control computer, and more.

And, no, you do not have to bring your vehicle to our service department for this warranty to remain valid. As long as you can prove your vehicle has been maintained by an ASE Certified mechanic, this warranty is good anywhere in the US and Canada – for as long as you own the vehicle.
